Kenya’s economy grew by an average of 5% annually between 2022 and 2025, outperforming global growth of 3.4% and Sub-Saharan Africa’s 4.1%. The Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (KICP) complements Kenya’s development agenda by linking environmental conservation with sustainable livelihoods, community empowerment and economic opportunities. Through initiatives such as Pesa Mfukoni, Kawi Safi Nyumbani and Maji Nyumbani, KICP supports income generation, clean household energy, water access and forest restoration, demonstrating how environmental sustainability can contribute to inclusive economic development.
