The Government of Kenya has officially launched the Kaptagat Forest Ecosystem Fencing Programme, a major conservation initiative aimed at protecting one of the country’s most important water towers and preserving the achievements of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (KICP). Through Forest Management Agreements, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) continues to work closely with Community Forest Associations (CFAs), granting them the 17 recognized forest user rights to promote sustainable forest resource utilization while strengthening the long-term conservation and restoration of the Kaptagat Forest Ecosystem.
