Dr Chris kiptoo hosted Hon Julius Migos Ogamba, Cabinet Secretary for Education, and Mr. Gitonga Mugambi, Principal Secretary for Forestry, during the official handover of over 100,000 high-value coffee seedlings to farmers in Tambach Ward, Keiyo North.
This initiative is part of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme, which seeks to enhance sustainable livelihoods for communities within the Hanging Valley ecosystem, while promoting climate action and environmental restoration. The seedlings, sourced from local nurseries and the Kenya Planters Cooperative Union, will go a long way in revitalizing Kenya’s coffee sector and advancing the Government’s goal of achieving 30% national tree cover by 2032.
They were also joined by H.E. Wisley Rotich, Governor of Elgeyo Marakwet; Hon. William Kisang, Senator Elgeyo Marakwet; Hon Adams Kipsanai, MP for Keiyo North (our host); Hon. Dominic Chesire, MCA; and other distinguished guests.
