Harry Kimtai – PS Medical Services, Governor Wisley Rotich, Senator William Kisang, CEO WWF Kenya – Mohammed Awer and other dignitaries and partners,  during the National Tree Planting in Kipkabus Forest, Elgeyo Marakwet County. 

The tree-growing exercise is in line with the clarion call by HE the President William Ruto to Kenyans  to mitigate and adopt to climate change through among other ways planting at least 15 billion tree seedlings by 2032. 

The said event also  served  as a precursor for the 8th edition of the Kaptagat tree-growing activities scheduled to be held on 13th July 2024. 

At least 2375 ha of forest land have been rehabilitated between the 1st and 7th edition in addition to distribution of over 263,000 avocado trees to communities within and around the forest to support their livelihoods.
