The 21-kilometre marathon race held at Chemargach in Kaptarakwa Ward, Keiyo South marked a key highlight of the Kaptagat Forest Run, officially launched during the 8th edition of the Kaptagat Forest Restoration initiative. This race aims to promote environmental conservation, healthy living, and raise awareness on the importance of protecting the Kaptagat ecosystem, a critical part of Kenya’s Cherangany–Elgeyo Hills Water Tower. As athletes and local communities came together to support reforestation and climate action, the event reinforced the powerful connection between sport and sustainability, while advancing the national goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032.
