The Kyoto Network is an active partner of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (KICP), supporting community-led climate action and forest restoration efforts in Kenya’s Kaptagat ecosystem. Through this partnership, the Kyoto Network provides technical expertise, climate finance insights, and international collaboration opportunities that strengthen KICP’s capacity to implement impactful environmental initiatives. The Network plays a key role in facilitating access to carbon markets and supports the development of carbon credit projects tied to reforestation and sustainable land use. By aligning with KICP’s mission to restore degraded forests across Sabor, Kessup, Penon, Kipkabus, and Kaptagat forest stations, the Kyoto Network helps advance carbon sequestration, climate resilience, and green economic opportunities for local communities. This collaboration contributes to Kenya’s broader goals of increasing tree cover, achieving 15 billion trees by 2032, and promoting nature-based solutions within critical water tower landscapes like the Cherangany–Elgeyo Hills ecosystem.
