The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) partners closely with the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (KICP) to implement large-scale forest restoration and sustainable landscape management in the Kaptagat ecosystem. Through this collaboration, KFS provides technical expertise, seedlings, and policy support, while KICP coordinates community mobilization, field operations, and stakeholder engagement. Together, they have successfully rehabilitated thousands of hectares of degraded forest, established commercial woodlots, and promoted agroforestry practices to improve local livelihoods. This partnership exemplifies a model for public–community collaboration in advancing Kenya’s national goal of growing 15 billion trees and increasing forest cover, while protecting vital water towers such as the Cherangany–Elgeyo Hills ecosystem.
