The Eliud Kipchoge Foundation is a prominent partner of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (KICP), championing forest restoration and climate action in the Kaptagat ecosystem. Inspired by world-renowned marathoner Eliud Kipchoge, the Foundation promotes environmental stewardship by integrating sports and conservation. In collaboration with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and KICP, the Foundation launched the Forest Adoption Framework for Collaboration, targeting the rehabilitation, branding, and maintenance of 50.8 hectares in the Kaptagat Forest Reserve over a five-year period. The Foundation also supports awareness initiatives like the symbolic 1:59 Tree Planting Challenge, encouraging mass participation in tree growing inspired by Kipchoge’s sub-two-hour marathon record. This partnership enhances community engagement, restores critical water catchments, and positions Kaptagat as a global model for sustainable landscape restoration and environmental leadership.
