Felix Koskei Hails Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme as a Blueprint for Sustainable Livelihoods

Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei praised the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (KICP) as a national model for balancing environmental conservation with community prosperity. Speaking during the 10th Edition of KICP, Koskei commended the programme’s integrated approach to restoring the Kaptagat Forest ecosystem through tree growing, water catchment protection, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, and community empowerment. The initiative, which supported Kenya’s ambitious 15-billion-tree agenda, also showcased transformative projects including the Cheminye Dam, climate-smart farming, the Kapkoi Cow Hotel, and the Kaptagat Forest Marathon, reaffirming KICP’s role in advancing biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, water security, and socio-economic development across Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu counties.
