Kaptagat Cycling Challenge 2025.

Monica Jelimo and Ndung’u wa Kieya emerged as the overall winners of the 2025 Kaptagat Cycling Challenge.

Jelimo, whose first-ever race was the inaugural Kaptagat Cycling Challenge in 2022, improved on her third-place finish last year to take the top spot. Hailing from Iten and having spent two years with the INEOS Eliud Kipchoge team in Kaptagat, she was a popular winner.

Kieya, who trained in Iten with Kenyan Riders before joining Team Amani, finished ahead of his Amani teammate and Ugandan Olympian Charles Kagimu. Kagimu, who also benefited from the Kaptagat altitude during his three years at Kipchoge’s academy, delivered a strong performance.

In para-cycling, Kenyan Paralympian Kennedy Ogada took the men’s title ahead of Gabriel Ambuko of Team VeloNos, while Felistus Kaveva, fresh from her medal haul at the African Championships, claimed the women’s title ahead of Irene Ngundo.

After the race, cyclists proceeded to plant 300 trees at the Eliud Kipchoge adopted site in Kaptagat Forest Block—a gesture to nurture the forest that has nurtured their careers.

Congratulations to all who participated in this year’s scenic race under the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme, blending fitness, community, and conservation to secure the future of our water towers.
