Safaricom, one of Kenya’s leading telecommunications companies, partners with the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (KICP) to support large-scale forest restoration, climate action, and community empowerment in the Kaptagat ecosystem. Through its Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Safaricom contributes to the planting of indigenous and fruit tree seedlings, funding conservation activities, and raising environmental awareness among local communities. The company’s support has been instrumental in rehabilitating degraded areas within key forest blocks such as Sabor, Kaptagat, Penon, Kessup, and Kipkabus, which are critical to the Cherangany–Elgeyo Hills Water Tower. Safaricom also enhances digital connectivity and communication during key tree planting events, helping to mobilize youth and stakeholders in nationwide tree-growing campaigns. This partnership aligns with Safaricom’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions and contributes to Kenya’s ambitious goal of growing 15 billion trees by 2032 while promoting sustainable development and ecosystem resilience.
