Patron Dr. Chris Kiptoo was honoured to be conferred as a National Hero – Shujaa by H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto (in the presence of HE Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of Senegal), during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County today.
For the last nine years, through the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme(KICP), we have worked to restore the Kaptagat ecosystem, integrating environmental conservation and livelihood improvement interventions.
Under the Programme, we continue to champion Maji Safi, Kawi Safi, Mazingira Safi and Pesa Mfukoni — initiatives that empower our people while protecting the environment.
This honour is a tribute to the collective effort of our communities, partners and institutions who have walked this journey with us.
Patron called on all of us to keep greening Kenya towards our national commitment of 15 billion trees by 2032 in addition to transforming the lives of the people in our journey to be a prosperous community in a prosperous nation!
